Akt Inhibitor X
S-Acetylthioglycolic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide ester
SATA (N-succinimidyl S-acetylthioacetate, CAS# 76931-93-6) is an important crosslinking reagent in biochemistry. It is primarily used to introduce protected thiol groups (sulfhydryl groups) into proteins, peptides, or other amine-containing molecules.
SATA reacts with primary amines on target molecules (e.g., lysine side chains in proteins), linking them to a protected thiol group. Subsequent addition of hydroxylamine removes the protecting group, yielding a free, reactive sulfhydryl group. This group can then be stably coupled to maleimide-activated proteins.
